Matthew received his BFA in Studio Art from Valdosta State University in Georgia (2004), and worked as a Studio Assistant for Edinboro University in Pennsylvania for two years before arriving in Colorado.    He is currently working on his MFA in Ceramics at the University of Colorado at Boulder.     He began working with molds in 2002 while an undergraduate in Georgia.    During his time in Edinboro, Matthew gained his formal training as a mold maker for the ceramic slip-casting industry while working for the Petro Mold Company of Waterford, PA.    Most recently, he worked in the Research and Development area of the Jacuzzi Whirlpool Bath production facility in Valdosta, GA, helping develop and maintain vacuum thermal forming molds for Jacuzzi Brands Corp.    As an artist, Matthew has been a recipient of numerous grants and awards.    Most notably, he was awarded the Stage Scholarship for summer residents of the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, MT, and he was recently featured as an emerging artist at the Society for Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh, PA.
