Patrick
Ting designs and creates contemporary ceramics, integrated tea sets and
functional tableware.
Trained
as a general surgeon and working as a physician with Kaiser Permanente in
Lafayette, Patrick has explored and developed his love of ceramics since grade
school. Participation in local community pottery classes in Michigan and
California, and years of taking courses at The Boulder Pottery Lab, have helped
formulate and hone Patrick's current aesthetic of modern design inspired by
shapes found in biology and geometry.
His pieces are slipcasted porcelain and stoneware, and he has partnered
with local artists Tom Pakele and Matthew McConnell to create the molds needed
to achieve the unique angles, lines and symmetries found in his clay pieces.
Patrick's
works have been shown in galleries in Scottsdale, Chicago, Denver and Oklahoma
City.
Patrick
grew up in Ann Arbor, MI, and his schooling has been at the University of
Michigan and Dartmouth. He
currently lives in Boulder.

| First rays of dawn so patiently awaiting,
they rustle from the morning wind and dance
with bravery, defiantly displaying
the tragic beauty of impermanence,
some petals torn and others perfect, reach
in silence to the sky, a deep azure
so uniform, a frame reflecting each
of endless permutations of colors.
They care not if I notice or ignore,
yet blaze and pour out all within that's stored.
